POTENTILLA fruticosa ‘McKay’s White’ (Potentilla ‘MacKay’s White’)

0571 “McKay’s White cinquefoil is a small, rounded shrub that produces many large buttercup-like flowers of crisp white. This attractive landscape plant has a compact, bushy, habit and small, dainty compound leaves of dark green. It is very hardy and originates from north temperate regions from Asia to North America. From summer to frost, numerous flowers appear with regularity. These contrast nicely with its fine leaves. As branches age, they develop pretty peeling bark.

This plant is adapted to average to poor sandy or gravely soils and prefers full sun. Over time, old stems should be removed to keep this shrub looking neat and well kept. Most cinquefoil are susceptible to powdery mildew, but ‘McKay’s White’ is resistant. This is a fine plant for low hedges, foundation plantings and mixed borders and there are many cultivars to choose from.”
