BUXUS sempervirens ‘Variegata’

Boxwood –

0187Hostas are herbaceous perennials prized for their leaves, habit, toughness and tolerance of shade. This one, ‘Heartleaf,’ is a medium-sized hosta that forms spreading mounds of heart-shaped, deeply-ribbed green leaves. The flowers are numerous, large, lavender, and funnel-to-bell-shaped. They appear on leafless stems held above the foliage in summer.

Like most hostas, ‘Heartleaf’ grows best in full to partial shade and tolerates a wide range of fertile well-drained soil types. It prefers average, even moisture. Use ‘Heartleaf’ for contrasts of size, habit, and texture in shaded perennial gardens and woodlands, or massed as a groundcover.
