GEUM coccineum ‘Mango Lassi’

Avens –

0747 Pleasant branching stems of flowers rise up above a bushy clump of hairy leaves. Long bloom season if deadheaded but consider leaving some later flowers on so the fluffy seed heads can form. Good for cutting. Protect from hot afternoon sun. Blooms in early summer. Considered a short lived perennial.

Well branched, semi double flowers in sumptuous shades of soft orange and mango and dark veining. The wide flowers bloom on erect, wiry stems above the foliage. Soft toothed foliage.

Companion Plants
Basket-of-gold – Brilliant yellow basket-of-gold planted in front of bright avens makes a bold color combination. Both enjoy similar soil conditions.
Iris – The upright sword-shape foliage of Siberian iris provides a good foil for the basal scalloped leaves of avens. Strong blue irises play off well against strong yellow or orange avens.
Calliopsis – Brilliant yellow coreopsis echoes or complements the bright hues of avens over a long bloom time. Several fine cultivars are available.
