Basket of Gold –
A well-behaved and disease resistant groundcover prized for its rousing floral display of tiny, golden yellow flowers borne just above the foliage. It forms fairly large mounds of silvery-green leaves. It’s especially attractive when planted on slopes or in the crevices of stone walls.
Winchester Gardens generally stocks this item.
Basket of Gold
This plant demands full sun and very well-drained soil that is kept on the dry side. Plants grown in rich, moist soil have a tendancy to rot.
To increase longevity, the foliage should be cut back by 1/3 after blooming. Propagate by division in fall.
Verbena – ‘Homestead Purple’ verbena looks especially stunning when paired with the brilliant yellow mounds of basket-of-gold.
Phlox – Creeping phlox blooms in spring with basket-of-gold and teams beautifully with the silvery foliage of basket-of-gold after it is done blooming.
Rock cress – Purple rock cress makes a great partner with basket-of-gold, cascading over a low retaining wall or in the rock garden.
